Psychology 378: Abusive Relationships

This course will focus on how understanding family maltreatment is vital in being competent at dealing with some of the most important real life concerns.  We will study the multifaceted arena of abuse within the family.  Topic to be presented are child abuse: physical sexual, and emotional maltreatment; sexual offenders, domestic violence and elder abuse.  Each topic will be covered from an ecological or systemic perspective.  This means that as you study the components of abuse within the family; you will consider the intricate sums of each part: social, cultural, group and individual, their impacts and effects.
