INTRODUCTION  (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):   Enrolling in a World University online course as an Open College Extension student is a two-step process.  

The first part is to apply for admission to our Extension Program.  The goal of this part is to make sure that you have enough previous college experience and/or English-language writing skills in order to be able to participate successfully in our courses.  

The second step of the enrollment process is to register for a specific course (or courses) and pay your tuition.  

This form is the admission application.  When you have been accepted for admission, we will e-mail you a username and password that will allow you to register for courses and pay your tuition by using the Registration Gateway.  (If you wish to take an online course at WorldU for nursing, social work or counseling Continuing Education Units, please go to our C.E.U. Enrollment Application.  For academic degrees and vocational certificate programs, please see the program announcements on the home page of our web site.

Admission to one or more courses at WorldU as an Extension Program student does not constitute admission to a degree or certificate program.  To apply individually completed courses to a degree or certificate program, a student needs to apply to, and be accepted into, that program.  For more information about degree and certificate programs, please see the program announcements on the home page of our web site.


ADMISSION STEPS:  To apply to take one or more World University online courses as an Extension student, please complete the following steps.

    Step A.  To help you prepare for online distance learning, please review the Computer-related Requirements for Online Programs.

    Step B.  Fill out Part One, below, of this application form while online, and click on the SUBMIT button to send Part One to the Registrar by e-mail.

    If you have completed two years or more of college or university education in English, your application will be complete and we will notify you by e-mail as soon as we accept you as an Extension student.  

    If your most recent diploma or degree is from an a school or college where instruction is in a language other than English, or if you have completed less than two years of college or university studies, please complete the following steps:

    Step C.  Print a copy of this form by clicking on your browser's PRINT
    button, so that you will have a copy of the list of supporting
    documents required.

    Step D.  Gather, copy and/or compose, as appropriate, the various documents, essays and/or written statements required in Part Two of this application and mail them to:

      If your computer arrangements allow you to scan documents into a PDF
      file, you may submit any additional documents required by e-mail as a

    Notice Concerning Instruction in English:   Due to our location and the limits of our staff and funds, World University in Ojai currently offers instruction in English only. If the primary language of instruction for your last diploma received was not English, you will be asked in this application to provide evidence of your ability to read and write first-year college-level English.

C. If neither A. nor B. apply to you, your application is complete. We will notify you by e-mail as soon as we accept you as an "Open College" Extension program student.

Part Two  -- Extension Program Admission Application
Proof of English Proficiency

This can include an essay or term paper you have written, transcripts of English classes you have taken, and/or scores on English tests(if available).

2.  [___]  For applicants with less than two years of college study:  World University's "Open College" Extension Program enrollment is open to all who can benefit from participation, regardless of previous formal education.  However, because most of our classes require focused, reflective writing, we request that applicants with less that two years of college submit a brief personal essay.   Please address the following topics and return with any mail-in items required from Question 1, above. We will notify you by e-mail as soon as we accept you as an Extension student. If we cannot accept you at the present time, we will suggest remedial actions you can take to ensure your later acceptance.  The most frequently recommended course of remedial action is to take a community college (or other college or university) class in English Composition.


World University will acknowledge receipt of both Part One and Part Two of your application by e-mail.  If your application requires the English Proficiency Essay, please complete it and send it to us as soon as possible so that we can complete the processing of your application.
